Spinach is a rich source of Iron - A MYTH

The reason for the Myth that Spinach is a rich source of Iron is - when the Nutritional values of various foodstuffs were being calculated & assessed, the field from where the Spinach sample was taken was over an Iron-ore mine. So THAT Spinach sample was rich in Iron. But when experiments were conducted ( as Anaemic patients couldn't be cured) it was found that actually Spinach is not a rich source of Iron. So please do not count on Spinach to increase the Iron content in your body. DO NOT recommend Spinach to your Anaemic friends. You can give Spinach to patients who are suffering from Vitamin A deficiency, as it is a rich source of Vitamin A, but most definitely not for Iron deficiency. Even though it was because of Popeye that we started eating Spinach, but even HE was wrong. Our muscles do not become of steel when we eat Spinach, sorry for ruining your childhood.
